Astrophysicist Matthew Kenworthy, who holds a PhD from Cambridge and researches exoplanets at Leiden University, discusses his discovery of an apparent planetary collision in a nearby star system, explaining the survey methods used to detect thousands of exoplanets and evidence of their destruction, and what new telescopes will add to the field.
